F-codes on ovens most often point at the sensor, the door lock on a self-clean oven or the control board. After a storm, a dead display is often a board, though we check the power to it first. We read the code, meter what it names and give you the real part in writing.
Oven door hinges wear and the door drops a quarter inch, letting heat out and running the oven long. A self-clean lock motor can seize with the door shut. We replace hinges, springs and lock assemblies from the van, and check the gasket while the door is off.
The technician reproduces the symptom first, because a burner that lights on the second try and an oven that heats to 300 and stops tell different stories. Then the meter comes out. A bake element gets a resistance reading; a gas igniter gets an amperage reading while it glows, since a weak one looks fine to the eye and still will not open the valve; a sensor gets its resistance checked against the chart for that model.
