From there the town spreads in two directions. South and west toward the harbor is the old town: the Old Village with its live oaks and Pitt St, Shem Creek and its docks, Coleman Blvd, I’On and the streets around Snee Farm. North along US-17 toward Awendaw are the planned communities that doubled the population in two decades: Park West, Dunes West behind its gate, Carolina Park and the newer sections still filling in. The Isle of Palms Connector splits off toward the beach. There is no bridge fee, no gate fee and no surcharge for any of it.
Mount Pleasant appliances fail on their electronics. The refrigerators run inverter compressors driven by boards. The washers read a half-dozen sensors before they will spin. The ovens are controlled by relay boards that trust a temperature probe. When something stops, the fault is more often in that chain than in a belt or a bearing. The I’On, Old Village and Dunes West kitchens add Sub-Zero, Thermador, Wolf, Viking, JennAir and Miele built-ins with their own logic. Salt air from the harbor corrodes connectors and condenser fins across town. Hurricane season brings the surge after an outage that kills boards while machines sit idle. Mount Pleasant Waterworks water is on the softer side, so scale is rarely part of the story.

A Sub-Zero in an Old Village kitchen, three blocks from the harbor, running all day and holding forty-four degrees. Behind the top grille the condenser wears a grey felt of dust and salt, and the fan is turning slow. Condenser cleaned, fan tested and replaced, thermistors checked against a reference, and the cabinet is at thirty-seven by evening.
A second-floor laundry in Park West, LG front-loader, code on the display, door locked with towels inside. The stored codes show the same drain fault three times in a month. The pump tests dead with a meter. New pump from the van, hose routing corrected, full cycle to spin, and the ceiling below stays quiet.
A 48-inch gas range in an I’On kitchen, one front burner clicking and never lighting while the others work fine. The electrode on that burner is fouled and cracked from years of salt air and boil-overs. One electrode replaced, all six burners tested for flame, one written number.

Yes. Sub-Zero, Wolf, Thermador, Viking, JennAir and Miele refrigerators, ranges, wall ovens, dishwashers and ice makers in I’On, the Old Village, Dunes West and the newer Carolina Park kitchens are part of the regular route. Some of their parts must be ordered, and the technician tells you the lead time before you approve the written number.
A warm refrigerator gets a same-day window, because food is at stake and a Sub-Zero full of it is expensive to lose. A range burner stuck on high or a gas burner clicking without lighting is a safety call. Everything else is same-week and often next day, Monday to Saturday.
It does, gradually. Condenser fins, dryer terminal blocks, spark electrodes and board connectors corrode faster within reach of the harbor and the Connector than they do in Summerville or Goose Creek. It shows up as intermittent faults before outright failure. We inspect connectors on every visit, and a surge protector helps with the storm side of the problem.
